Services offered at Umang

Umang is an initiative towards rehabilitation of the persons with disabilities and has a special focus on persons with cerebral palsy, mental challenges, multiple disabilities, autism, and other neurological conditions.

The centre for special education offers programs through academic, non-academic and functional groups. It follows an Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each student. A vocational training unit for work training and employment, physiotherapy, speech and language development, activities for daily living and a unit for sports, leisure and recreation has been set up with professionally trained full time staff members. Computer training is an integral part of the curriculum.

In addition to this, we also serve people with disabilities, care givers and their families through various programs such as inclusion in community and inclusive education services, home management and counseling services, advocacy and awareness, and by strengthening other services.

Umang is suitably installed with special furniture, standing frames and simple adaptations in toilets and class rooms, and makes use of assistive devices/technology.

Umang is supported by the most qualified and highly experienced team of experts in Rajasthan with 5 to 22 years of experience in the filed. The specialized team at Umang consists of special educators, qualified academic teachers, physiotherapists, speech and language experts, occupational therapists, psychologists, artists and theatre experts and qualified vocational trainers. Other experts include counselors, neurologists, orthopedic surgeons, pediatricians etc. Members of staff are regularly trained on latest skills and techniques through an intensive in-service training program.

Workshops, seminars, training programs, multi-facetted projects, and numerous special events such as painting competitions, dance, theatre, mountaineering, fashion shows and excursions are constant features.
